Mission Restaurant Group Becomes One of Michigan’s First Certified Recovery Friendly Workplaces
Grand Rapids, MI — 4/18/25 — Mission Restaurant Group is proud to announce its official designation as a Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW), becoming one of the first employers in Michigan to receive this certification. This milestone reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to building an inclusive, supportive, and empowering workplace culture.

David Ritchie, President & COO, Mission Restaurant Group noted, “Recovery is a deeply personal and challenging journey, and as an organization, we wanted to ensure our team members had the resources, understanding, and opportunities to succeed both personally and professionally.”
The company’s journey toward certification included staff training, open dialogue, and a commitment to reducing stigma around recovery in the workplace.
Richie continued. “This initiative has not only strengthened our company culture but has also highlighted the value of empathy and resilience in the workplace. Through training and open conversations, our team has grown closer, and we’ve seen firsthand the positive impact of supporting recovery.”
As one of Michigan’s early adopters of the RFW model, Mission Restaurant Group hopes to inspire other businesses to join the movement.
“We encourage other organizations to consider becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace,” Richie added. “Leading with compassion and care not only changes lives—it builds stronger teams and stronger communities.”
