Spanglish Designated as a Recovery Friendly Workplace

Spanglish, a vibrant and community-driven restaurant, has officially been designated as a Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW). This designation highlights Spanglish’s commitment to fostering a workplace culture that supports employees in recovery and promotes overall well-being.

For Spanglish, the journey to becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace was deeply personal. “We had a prep cook with an alcohol addiction. He worked early in the morning and was still intoxicated when we would start his shift. He fell at work, he would make errors that resulted in wasted time and product. We had to let him go for safety reasons,” shared a representative from Spanglish.

Through the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, Spanglish leadership underwent comprehensive training to better understand addiction and its impacts on the workplace. “After the RFW training, I now have tools to more effectively communicate on the subject of addiction. The training informed me about the community resources available, the benefits to employees and our culture and where I can refer employees who may need help.”

The designation process was an informative and transformative experience, equipping Spanglish with the necessary resources to support employees struggling with substance use disorder while fostering a safer and more inclusive work environment.

We extend our gratitude to Spanglish for their commitment to embracing and leading recovery friendly culture in the workplace.

We invite businesses and organizations across Michigan to join the movement and become a Recovery Friendly Workplace today.
