The Journey of Becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW)

In today’s world, creating a supportive and inclusive work environment is more important than ever. Recovery Mobile Clinic has taken significant steps to ensure that their organization is a place where everyone feels welcome and supported. One of the key initiatives they have undertaken is to become a Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW). Recovery Friendly Workplaces (RFWs) support their communities by recognizing recovery from substance use disorder (SUD)/opioid use disorder (OUD) as a strength and by being willing to work intentionally with people in recovery. RFWs encourage a healthy and safe environment where employers, employees, and communities can collaborate to create positive change and eliminate barriers for those impacted by substance use disorder.

The Recovery Mobile Clinic is a nonprofit medical clinic that focuses on bridging the gaps in healthcare. They partner with homeless shelters, transitional houses, community centers, and inpatient treatment centers to offer primary care, mental health support, STI testing, and substance use disorder support. Becoming an RFW supports their mission in supporting employees in recovery.

“The RFW training helped us become more confident in hiring and recognizable to potential employees,” says Jordana Latozas, a representative from the Recovery Mobile Clinic.

Becoming an RFW has had a profound impact on their organization. It has not only improved hiring practices but also created a more inclusive and supportive environment for staff and the communities they serve.

We are proud to welcome them as an officially designated Recovery Friendly Workplace.
